YEAR OF THE TIGER (Celebrating the Chinese New Year)

2010 was the Chinese “Year of the Tiger” and I was inspired to make a jacket with that theme using tigers from Embroidery Library (www.emblibrary.com).  I also went to a local Chinese restaurant and had the owner translate the term “The Year of the Tiger” into Chinese characters. My husband digitized the phrase that I then embroidered on the front of the jacket.  I used lots of decorative stitches to accent the tigers.  I made gaucho pants (not shown) with a tiger embroidered on one pant leg along with matching rows of decorative stitching on both pant legs.  This garment won an award at the Pacific International Quilt Festival.  Again, I used my Bolero pattern #0803, and lengthened the hemline.
